Default Which oil

Hi guys,

I need recommendations for type of oil for my diesel S80 D5 2004, I have been told that I need 6.5 litres but my manual says 5.8. I would like to buy the oil from a shop rather than wait for delivery.

Thanks in advance

Phil

Shell Helix 5W-40 from Eurocarparts. Currently on offer at £19.99 for 5ltrs. One of the best oils on the market. There are loads of us on here using it in our Euro 3 D5 engines.

Every time I've serviced my D5 it has taken just shy of 7ltrs for the dipstick to show max.

The capacity is 6.5 but I'm pretty sure I've never managed to fit back in more than 6.

+1 for Helix Ultra 5 40 which is excellent.
Apart from Liqui Moly Synthoil 5 40 (scandalously expensive) I wouldn't use anything else.

I'm with the 5W 40 brigade. My D5 is noticeably quieter with 5 40 in than the thinner 0W 30. I use the Carlube stuff myself, and i also can only get 6 litres back in.
