2010 xc90 clutch pedal on floor
Hi all
I've seen posts with similar issues but not EXACTLY the same. The clutch works fine (purchased the car a week ago) but twice now I have gone out to the car and found the clutch pedal on the floor. If i manually lift it up, it continues to operate just fine. VERY confusing!! Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance |

Check under the car for leaks of brake fluid and also check the brake/clutch reservoir carefully to see if the level has dropped. It's usually a combined unit so the brake level could look fine but examine thoroughly to view clutch fluid level.
I had this on my manual s60 and it was the clutch slave cylinder at fault. If it is, it's a gearbox out job to replace.

odd that the pedal goes down overnight , isn't there a helper spring on the pedal itself which springs the pedal upwards ?

Thanks for the responses. Luckily I have a pretty damn good warranty with the vehicle so will be returning this to the seller with your thoughts captured. Who would have thought such a minor symptom could suggest such a significant fault. Thanks guys and gals.

I would say the same. We had a Renault that did this, the pedal would just go to the floor randomly but with no loss of fluid. When i changed the slave cylinder i found that it was drawing air in rather than leaking fluid out.
