If the rust is just at the bottom, couldn't it simply be angle grinded off in a straight line and a plastic strip put on it?

Front valance 'shouldn't' fail the MOT, mine was bad but got an advisory for rust many years ago (now fixed).

I doubt it will sell for that price, £400 more likely now. Car still looks like it could be returned to normal as it's not battered but finding right trim now difficult.

Pity the current seller didn't keep the car longer and make more of it!

A lot are getting this happen to them now, a nice 3 door in green went on ebay local to me, no doubt to the same fate. I'd have saved it if it hadn't been for getting a GLE saloon saved from salvage at the same time! Had to go for the rarer model!

Edit:From reading the ad, he's kept everything he's taken off.....at least he's got the right idea!

It depends how deep into the valence the rust has gone. Mine has rotted out the bottom 2 1/2" and this inturn has spread to the return panel underneath, which is attatched to the bumper horns. With these being classed as the chassis my rust is within 6" of that therefore making it a fail.

I think it also depends on how the examiner is feeling that day!

The poor thing is ruined now and didn't it nearly double in price when it was sold the first time as a drifter and now it is destroyed it's £100 more than that!

Oh dear, very sad. I wish I could open a 300 orphanage and save all that ever come up for sale, but I can't!

I'd be tempted to buy it if it wasn't such a stupid amount for potentially a full resto
