2004 Volvo S40 Alarm Issues
I have sold my bother in laws S40. I took it for a MOT and got it taxed ready for collection on Thursday. Anyway it had been fine until a few days ago when the every time i got in the car it said alarm activated check car. I did all well.
To cut a long story short if I lock the car and leave it then walk past it the feckin alarm goes off. It does it every time I or my neighbour walks past it. I have read about the siren so found it in the plenum chamber and unplugged it. now it doesn't sound but hazards go off and keep going off if a walk near it??? I have ordered a new siren from Volvo £99. I was convinced that was the fault until I opened the old siren. The PCB and the battery look like new no sign of leaked acid as I expected. Am i about to waste £99???? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated. |

Well siren changed and no difference.
I have unplugged the mass movement sensor and although it says alarm service required I can walk past the car without it activating the alarm. Looks like its time for new sensor! |

Probably no help at all but check you haven't left a phone in there or something, if I leave my Nexus 7 in the car the alarm goes off all the time, thought it was NFC at first but disabled that on the tablet but still happens, assume it must be WIFI as that doesn't sleep on the tablet with screen off like it does on most phones.

Didn't take 2 weeks - I left if for 2 days ... I would start by locking it manually with the key overnight and see where you go from there.
