Default Cant seem to find many T5 V50's around...

On the hunt at the moment for a nice T5 V50 Sport, not wanting to spend mega money and therefore looking around up to the 2007 mark with on average around 70k miles.

I have looked on all the common choices for cars, but the T5 Sport seem tricky to find unless your wanting 150k miles on them. :-(

Can anyone point me in the direction of a buyers guide detailing common issues etc to look out for ?

Also can you confirm if the car's where facelifted between 2004 - 2007 ?

Thanks

I think the face lifts started in 2007.

Just bide your time and one will come along. I spent around 5 months waiting for a 'Sport' but eventually succummed to an SE which came up locally and looked good with the rear spoiler and factory tints on the windows. A few people have said the cars ride and handle better on 17" wheels (as on the SE) rather than 18" (as per the sport) so think carefully. Also, on the T5, not sure if there is huge difference in the suspension set up between 'sport' and 'SE' (Someone more in the know will confirm). Think all T5's have a 'dynamic' chassis set up whatever that means!? Therefore, it really just comes down to the 'sport' bodykit which you can buy aftermarket if really want to.

Like I say, just bide your time and one will come along. Open your mind to an SE though.

My T5 Sport is on 17's as standard, 2005 model. That's harsh enough for me, I can't imagine how it must be on 18's.

The T5's are fairly rare in s40/v50 when I was searching I ha a choice of 2 in a 100 mile radius, luckily for me the first one was over 100K and £400 cheper but I opted for the 2nd on, it was a very nice 73k 2 owner example and I didn't think twice about snapping it up, as others have said se trim is very good, mine an se and I got the premium sound system (6 disc changer, sub, amp, and surround sound) and the phone, if i was after one now I would opt for the se trim to get the extra creature comforts, you can always add the sport bodykit later. As others have said bid your time and one will turn up...

Exactly what I did. I bought a T5 SE and added the bodykit later. I got it from a Volvo specialist in Newcastle, unused, via eBay for about £150. The painting and fitting was not cheap but I got exactly what I wanted.

My main drivers were:

- I didn't want the shopping trolley spoiler that the Sport/SE Sport came with. Wanted the lip spoiler (S40)
- I wanted leather and the Sport didn't have that as standard at the time
- I wanted Performance Audio at a minimum and that was standard kit on the SE
- At the time, I lived in a slightly dodgy area and I wanted the car to look less desirable to the local neds for vandalising and theft. When I moved I added the bodykit.

Thanks all,

After having a look around im thinking while the T5 would be nice, the 2.4l seems to be coming in a bit cheaper.

im not wanting to spend a lot of cash on one... thats the problem... looking around a 2005/2006 year with around 70k on the clock.
