Default So what's it really worth? 2006 V50 2.0D Sport

Hi all. After three and a half years of joyful ownership, the time has come for a change. I have loved every minute of driving my V50, it has simply been the best car I've ever owned in 25 years of driving!

After speaking to a couple of used car dealers with regards to part exchanging my car, I have been offered what I consider to be woefully low prices for my car so I thought I'd try the forum to see what other members think my car might be worth. Here are the details for my V50:

Volvo V50 2.0D Sport 2006 registered but 2007 model (prefacelift) in Barents blue with 48,000 miles and winter pack including heated seats, headlamp washers and heated door mirrors.

Parrot bluetooth kit fitted, works through the stereo

18" Medusa alloys changed for 17" Cratus ones for a better ride (were just 24hrs old when I got them!)

Black roof rails replaced for later bright aluminium ones

Front grill replaced for S40 eggcrate one

Rear number plate light plinth changed for later version with chrome strip and spaced, larger V O L V O lettering

Internal changes include:

Larger, chunkier R-Design steering wheel fitted (done by main dealer so no worries about air-bag function) along with R-Design aluminium topped gear knob

R-Design sport pedals fitted

Newer air vents with chrome strips fitted

Centre console surround changed for R-Design dark silvery grey one with ridged finish

Centre console changed for later version with chrome tipped knobs

I do realise that most of the above don't probably add much value to the car but they certianly give it a nicer look.

I really do love this car but a growing family means I need something bigger but just as economical (can't afford a XC90!). It will be a sad day if/when I see my Volvo go but needs must.

So over to you fellow forum members, what's your verdict on a price I could reasonably expect to achieve for my V50?

I should also like to point out that my V50 has the Euro 4 engine and has NO dpf!!

Sounds a nice car and looked after..

I have been on the hunt for one of the above for the last week or so, seen plenty of models but nothing has "ticked" all the boxes for me yet.

The prices on the market for a private buy I have seen for a early 2004 model from £3000 with 120k miles, 2005/06 at around £4500k with high miles, to £6500 with 50k miles, but then theres also a lot more dealers selling them for £7-8k which in my opinion is a bit over the odds for the cars unless they have all extras.

So as yours is a year or 2 older, I would stick another £1500 onto that maybe....

I have done a few CAP searches and found out the trade guide purchase prices and as you say, its pretty low.

I have found the prices for the SE models is around £750 less than the sport.

So.. not sure if thats any help as your motor is lower mileage than some I have been looking at by around 20k.

Heres a 2006 car with 60k miles sold by a garage... £7500 - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...ge/1?logcode=p

Hello.

Guess at £10,000.

There was a low mileage SE, approximate same age, at the dealer's showroom when taking my V50 in for service last week. The asking was over £11,000 reduced to a little over £10,000.

wow - that seems a lot...

ie - for £8k, you could buy this Volvo V50 2.0D SE Sport 5dr Diesel Sportswagon 2009 with 60k miles, ok its a private sale and with more miles, but 60k is not a lot really.

Full service history? 10k easy and the dealer knows they will get that for it, I got mine same spec without the extras and 62,000 miles same age for 8k after aggressive haggling, was up at 10k to start!

Well if it helps, mines a 2007 V50 SE Sport 113k miles with winter pack and a whole shedload of extras (all factory fitted as it was ex-display) and I've been quoted as a trade in between £3500 and £4000 but told that if I was to sell it privately I could easily get an extra £500-£1000 for it.

... its worth what someone will pay

7-9k sounds on the money depending on how you sell it maybe a bit more

I bought a similar spec'ed (06 but 07 spec) SE Sport with 41k , 2 owners/fvsh, private sale for a touch over £7000 six months ago, I would be expecting around £6-6.5 for yours private, not sure if the prices have varied much due to the model being discontinued or not though. Dealers will be looking at making at least £1.5K on it. Book price is what to aim for unless someone really wants it....Okay if you are not in a rush to get rid. HTH Hadrian

I would be paying no more than £4500.for it.It is after all a 6 coming 7 year old motor.
Ask a dealer what he would pay and you might get a shock due to the state of peoples finances and trade at present.

Does the car have xenons, premium sound, leather or Sat Nav?

Cheers
