Hi,
Done a bit of digging on various forums and found no end of people suffering from the same problem. Appears to be caused by any removal of dashboard equipment, stereo's, aircon controls, dashboard etc without firstly disconnecting the dashboard. All listings found resulted in the same conclusion, a trip to the dealer to clear it, typical charge being £30 or in some cases FOC from a friendly dealer. Cheers John |

dash problems
hi, im new to this site so dont know if ive done this correct, sorry if ive jumped on the back of someone else thread . can anyone help with my volvo s60 d5 2002 the dash has started showing intermitant faults first the trip computer started flickering but this didnt bother me, then now it shows brake fault stop safely, the speedo drops to zero, cruise wont work and abs lights come on, volvo say it is an ecu under the abs hydrolic pump (expensive) ive checked the wires under the floor as with JONNYBOYS but my wires go under the centre console, dont know if this sounds like the same fault as my lights dont go out.sometimes switch off engine few secs and it resets again. is volvo correct or is it bs. mot soon need help.cheers.

That sounds like DIM problems like Jonnyboys..ABS will not effect your speedo.

I think it will, ABS provides speed signal to the DIM amongst other things.

Also, If its any help to anyone, There's a problem which can cause the same symptoms. It's a faulty VRM (Voltage Regulation Mocule) Similar to the ones found on PC motherboards near the processor, Many of the repair companies know this and this is a common thing they will replace.
Here's some links to the problem: http://www.volvo-forums.com/t19793-d...-ecm-relay.htm http://www.volvo-forums.com/t13321-d...d-problems.htm Hope this helps |

Loss of dash
I have a 2003 52 plate D5 with 116,000 miles on and have the same problem, like a bloody disco on the dash, some times works , sometimes it does'nt.
Main dealer did'nt look at it and qouted me £599 + VAT for a new dash, stating it's a common fault, if so, then why not bloody re-call and sort out, have already just forked out £300 for new turbo intercooler which they also stated was acommon fault, seems to be a pattern developing , or is it the Policeman in me. ps love the car but from what i've been reading on this forum, she's going to have to go. and maybe replace with a good lada. |
