Post I Think I Know What This Might Be! (ABS UNIT)

Hi there,
This has happened 3 times so far over the past 2 months.
The ABS light turns on after about 15 - 30 mins of driving. When I turn off my engine and restart, the light goes off only to come back on maybe a few weeks later.

My thougts:
ABS is actually faulty
or
ABS solder joints

I don't think the ABS is faulty as the car still stops fine and sharp (no excessive brake pressure is needed).

What does everyone else think.

Also if it is the ABS solder joints wouldn't it just be easier to get a new or used ABS unit off eBay?

Thanks

Thanks for that.
Before I do anything (which by the way I very much guess I can't actually do this) do you think I should wait for light to go on permantly so I can at least tell whether my handy work has paid off?

Thanks

Also surely eBay would be easier?

Oh, I just thought. The next time the light turns on I could check the ABS ECU read out (flashy red light) to see what it says...?

What year is the car?

The early units don't have the dry joint probem.

If there are no faults the electrical portion of the ignition barrel would be favourite...

Excellent.
I have read that somewhere... Wiggle the keys (quite hard) when the ABS light is on to see if there is a loose connection. Hopefuly the ABS lights goes out. (This is off my memory, I might be completly wrong how I said this).

Thanks Jod

Try to "start" the car as it is moving by turning the key that way (without starting) until you get a *fairly* solid resistance and release...
