Default S40 Check Stop Lamps error

Hi Guys

I have a S40 1.8 sports SE 55 plate. The message "Check Stop Lamps is always on But both my brake lights are working fine.

Ive not removed the bulbs yet but when looking at the brake light housing I notice a thick red cable that is separate from the rest of the loom going to each brake light, and a thin orange cable on each brake light that has been cut back.

Im gussing the previous owner had the power to the lights remade as maybe a fault on the original cable (The orange ones) ?

So could it be the new cable doesnt run through the cars computer which is why It registers the fault ? If so Is there anyway of clearing it ?

Thanks in advance for any help.
