Can anyone throw any light on my problem my cruise control has stopped working I did have some problems with vacuum hoses and a one way vacuum valve (the one under the inlet manifold) but all now sorted (well seems to be) drives fine with no warning lights but no cruise control I need it as well got dodgy knees so it’s a pain it not working
Any help would be appreciated.

Check the brake and, if applicable, clutch switches on the pedal box under the dash.

As Chris has said, the brake switch seems a likely cause. You can't tell by just looking. In my case I pressed it towards the top of the brake pedal until it clicks a couple of times and this adjusted it closer. It worked for me and my cruise control is now working again.

Thanks for that Andy i take it the cruise uses a different part of the switch to the brake lights as the brake lights work fine.

Thanks Again

The cruise control will not operate if it senses the brakes are being applied. The problem is if the switch is oversensitive then it may cause the brake lights to come on even if you are not pressing the brake pedal. it can be adjusted by pushing the switch towards the top of the brake pedal but if the switch is worn (like mine) then during brake operation it has a tendency to push the switch back again. I'd replace the switch to see if this helps.
