Thank you all for your suggestions. Unfortunately, I do not really know the history of the fault as I inherited the car from a very good friend.
Next plan is to disconnect the srs plug and test resistance along the lines to the tensioner plug. Also check if there is any shorts to earth or accross the leads. Hopefully, that should eliminate the wiring from the unit to the plug.
I have remade and cleaned the connector (with electrical contact cleaner) several times, but can do a few more.
After the reconnect, and installation of the resistor into the tensioner plug, I will try clearing the srs codes and see what happens.
I really appreciate the guidance I have received

A quick update, disconnected the srs unit and checked continuity from there to connector for tensioner, all good on both pins. Checked for any shorts between the 2 wires and also for shorts to earth, all ok again.
Fitted the resistor to the tensioner plug and checked resistance at srs plug. Not good, removed one pin from tensioner plug and cleaned carefully with a pin and cleaner, replaced pin and did the 2nd one.
Put resistor accross pins in srs plug and measured resistance at tensioner end. Kept cleaning till resistance was correct. Put resistor back into tensioner plug and remeasured resistance at srs plug, all fine.
Put it back together and codes would not clear.
Have read somewhere that the srs unit will not clear if it has a count above a certain value for the same codes and has to be reprogrammed.
Too that end, I have bought a replacement srs module and going to get it programmed with the correct data from my existing unit, see where we go from there.
When trying to clear codes VIDA goes to a panel that asks for the engine to be started, reved etc and press ok to read errors. Assume that pressing ok resets codes if it is going to happen.

I’ve not experienced srs issues on my P3, but did on my first P2 which had hidden accident history when I bought it (rather naively).
According to Vida that had the srs warning on for 7 years! The pretensioners had gone off and had to be replaced. Vida cleared the faults once they where replaced.

If you have bought a used module, before paying for it to be cloned try it on the car. It will give a configuration error, but hopefully will not show the same error you have now. Had a module that wouldn’t reset on another P2 car and checked it that way before forking out on repairs/cloning.

Don’t know if you can resistance test the actual pretensioner not tried this before as it’s an explosive device I’ve always played safe.

Quick update, Took the srs unit away with me and swapped it over. New one from an S80.
All codes gone except high resistance on nsr tensioner. Also some code relating to module problem.
Rechecked resistance from module connectot to tensioner with a known resistance fitted. Still not right. Connector is still dirty inside.
Thinking of a quick dunk in hydrochloric acid and a flush to remove the muck. inside. The pins can be removed from the connector, so I can see what is happening in the acid. Mechanical cleaning with a pin and cleaner has not helped, due to the access problem
Any better ideas?

be carefull with srs components you can trigger air bags belt tensioners. and crash sensor which can only be reset by main dealer . it could get very expensive for you if any of these happen . sometimes its better to get proffesional help
