  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Default Dipped beam failure, but both lights are working

Hi All
I have a message displaying dipped beam bulb failure but i have checked the lights and they are both working fine? any one know how to clear the message? or should i replace the bulbs again with more expensive bulbs, have already changed with halfords own brand but message is still there,

The message is cleared automatically on each starting cycle. If it's persistent, then it's because the problem is too and is continuing to trigger the warning.

Did the original bulb(s) actually fail? It's difficult to say for certain without further testing but I suspect that either the Halfords' bulb are out of specification with regards to the Volvo originals (and the car is interpreting that as a fault), or that there's a problem somewhere within the fault detection system itself (OEM, shunt problem, corrosion etc.).

If it's the first case, and you originally did have a real failure, I'd be inclined to suspect the bulb(s) isn't/aren't up to scratch.
