Sods law says there will be problems if you don't and if you take a warranty there won't. That is the problem. It depends how risk averse you are I suppose. I shall have to consider my position towards the end of the 3 years. Shame though that there aren't options based on mileage.

I`ve just been quoted £745 for 2 years from the dealer.
The dilemma is.........go for a no quibble repair from Volvo with no excess, or argue the toss from an aftermarket insurance dealer where they may or may not decide to stump up. For the sake of saving maybe a hundred quid. Does anyone use an aftermarket one they would recommend?

I think people have said on here before that the extended warranty even from Volvo is still a 3rd party. Obviously you can argue that you have added protection by getting Volvo UK involved (Ive found Volvo UK to be pretty useless tbh and my dealer would regularly slag them off) so not sure what that’s worth.

A quick search got me 'Warranty Direct'.
3 years, all covered incl infotainment, DPF etc. No excess, uncapped labour. The full bifter for just under a grand. Not many reviews on them that I found so am swithering. It`s obviously a better deal than Volvo but you hear so many mixed reviews on such places. On the other hand, main dealers have been know to mess you about too. Hmmmmmm decisions, decisions

All so-called 'extended warranties' aren't really warranties at all, just insurance policies provided by third parties - Volvo's is provided by Car Care Plan.
I went with the Volvo option. Hopefully I will never have to claim but it's good to know that it's there - these cars are complex and repairs can get very expensive, very quickly.

I also chose the Volvo one provided by Car Care Plan, and they refunded the pro rata amount when I cancelled it due to changing cars. Not sure if that might be relevant to you in the future or not but I was surprised and wasn’t expecting a refund!

I took out the Volvo Extended Warranty last October.
£745 for two years. Have had the complete button cluster module and wiring loom on the right hand side of the steering wheel replaced, with no problems. My dealer never asked to see any Warranty paperwork, as they told me that everything was on file. tem.

My 3 year "Automation Gold" warranty from QBE at £599 was the bargain of the year......

I have gap insurance with a company called ALA, a company I have used for years but never needed to put to the test.
I note they also provide/sell extended warranties using the RAC. The annual rates appear to be very cheap compared with the prices quoted by members on this thread. So to the question. Anyone examined this RAC warranty or maybe bought and used it? https://www.ala.co.uk/warranty/quote.php
