Has it stopped the clunk you were talking about on another thread?

Depends, there was at least 2 variants lol

This stopped or vastly reduced the clunk relating to the gearbox, ie reverse. It also may have played a part in the issue below too. Hard to tell when you fix 2 issues..

Tightening the drive shaft bolts stopped the clunk that was related to taking up drive and letting it off whilst moving, the one where you lightly press the gas and quickly release.

It was nice to drive yesterday, didn't go far mind but I tickled it a few times and prob did about 30 miles or so, enough to get the gearbox up to temp and there was no reverse clunk and there always was when it was up to temp.

Now, there may have still been a gear change slip but to be honest, I'm not 100% sure I didn't dream that last night

If it was any other clunk that I've forgot about, please let me know, memory is pants to say the least lol

From memory, even a new one has some front-to-rear play but nothing like that yours appears to have. I did mine with a gen Volvo one about 80k ago and still holding up fine but I don't tear-arse around..... I'd avoid polybushing, certainly on a diesel or might end up with a 5 cylinder sex toy...... LOL.
HTH,
Nobby
JUst how much play in the top bush is acceptable? Mine in not exactly jumping about but I would have thought that the movement should be minimal. D you replace bar mounting bushes at same time? Mileage c59k on imported Ocean Race on an 06 plate.

Not sure about acceptable but the new one had nothing in comparison, pretty much no movement in any direction, I didn't replace anything on the bar, don't think there would be much need to touch that
