Fixing Volvo with my own hands
Hi guys,
I scanned Volvo s80 2004 with Vida and got a few errors. Based on your experience (I already read info about those codes) what's the best way of fixing them? Do I have to replace all those sensors? -Air quality - I don't mind about this -Rear view mirror (it works well, not sure why it shows this) -Siren communication fault (I can make beep beep without any problem) -Cruise control faulty - I can't turn on cruise control -Clutch position sensor - Well the car drives.. Also the car dashboard says 'engine system service required'. Any ideas guys? |

I am sure i have this and it shows twice for me, namely the 2 "wing/door" mirrors, 032 is poss drivers side, 030 n/s and 031 at a guess, is inside, i was told it relates to the seat memory i believe, mine also work fine re adjusting and demisting etc, I also have the AQS issue too. Like Simmy says, delete them and see what comes back, sounds like the clutch and cruise will show again as that's not working

Those codes above are after the 'code cleaning'. Shall I replace those sensors for clutch and cruise or? |

AQS - they all do this!
PDM0032 is the passenger door mirror (PDM!) - possibly one of the adjustment motors not working properly. UEM-0004 Alarm siren battery is knackered, they all do this! ECM-9210 this may be the cause of the warning message, does the screen say it’s requested MIL? ECM930A needs clutch sensor, DIY able, it’s connected to clutch pedal on a bar and lives next to throttle pedal. This is possibly causing the above error as well. If you look at the screen on ‘initial state’, you’ll see a fault trace button, this gives you far more diagnostic information. Last edited by reggit; Aug 4th, 2020 at 11:04. |

The air quality sensor issue is the "fault" nearly all Volvo live with. It closes the external air vent when it detects a "smell"... I can do that for the price of the part £1nn.nn - its that expensive. I have read it can be resolved with a £ 30-£40 VW part in certain circumstances.
The siren fault is another common Volvo fault- Info on this site if you search. The clutch position sensor may be squiffing your cruise, and if you have VERY basic soldering skills and a basic multimeter a "repair" can be had for a 10p resistor soldered in parallel to the inside of the potentiometer which is what the clutch position is. The cars brain reads the ohms from the CPS and if its outside the range, the cruise don't work. Adding the resistor makes the CPS send an acceptable reading. When I did mine IIRC I fitted a 5700ohm resister. There is info on here, incl pics cos that's how I did mine. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=298097 Cheers Bob |

A little IAQS help
IAQS sensor
VAG part # 1K0907659 for pre-facelift cars. p/n 31250491 "new #" ? p/n 08665059 is off an '01 p/n 09468326 is off a 2000 p/n 31369324 (FCP no gots) is said to be for facelift cars p/n 30676344 is off an '04 p/n 30676508 for facelift cars Hella p/n 6PX-012-684-061 ordered through https://www.worldcarparts.co.uk/air-...U?bSearch=true p/n 8674719 (taken off a Behr replacement pre-facelift) 31250683 ssd# The list above was compiled by me from reading IAQS posts. All I did was take numbers. I failed to note if these numbers were looked-up or found on IAQS sensors themselves, sorry. The first part # is from Volkswagen. I figure this sensor is like the yaw sensor in that it was used by several makers. Also, I put this list together so long ago I forget what "ssd#" in the last entry means. |

Thank you guys for the info. I will try to fix it now.
Just wondering if 'engine system service required' is related to clutch sensor error? |

Look at each code on the initial state screen, and ‘more details’, it will tell you if the fault has requested the MIL (malfunction indicator light)
