yes we read this.i guess this is achieved because the bar is in its position already as in quaife(picture6)....ime not going to let it beat me.i know we are doing something wrong somewhere...if we arent succesful on sunday,then i will ask my brother to take me and the gearbox to my local volvo,theres always a technician there.he may be able to tell us where we are going wrong.....thanks

spoke to my local volvo technician today(wednesday) for advice on how i could put my gearbox back together,and they said even if i brought it to them they could not put it back together as they dont have the tools to do it...if it would have been a renault one,then yes no problem...spoke to a gearbox specialist (would be a 60 mile round trip) and they said they are not sure if they can do it either now....if i can get some pennys at the end of the month,and gatos has still got his gearbox,then this looks the likely outcome...

I don't use windows or Adobe. I am a Linux person and I use Gimp for photo editing which is free and more than covers my needs.

A few photos in the daylight will be great.

hi again,just to update you all...i took my gearbox to a gearbox specialist and its now fixed.i am off to pick it up tomorrow(saturday)....hopefuly gatos i wont be needing your gearbox,but thanks.....my brother and i were not competant enough to put it back together....the garage said that we were trying to put it back together UPSIDE DOWN..ddddeeeeeerrrrr....but it would have meant removing all the gears and was worried about them locking up,when removing them....and we would not have known for certain if we had got it right until we had put it back in the car....so thanks everyone for now.will keep you all updated soon...

well !!! on the phone he said he would have it done in an hour £40...but when he rang to say it was done, he said call it £100....i should have known...but oh well at least its done.....

UPDATE...picked the gearbox up today(saturday) and all looks well.he accepted £80 for the repair,as he origionaly said £40..cannot put the gearbox back in the car yet,as volvo ordered the wrong seal...so it will be next week now,but still relieved and happy...so will keep you all updated with progress.thanks
