Default V70 alternator

Just a quick question I have a v70 alternator it says 75 to 140 amps on the back .So it obvously has a conection for battery but does it have a charge light (red ignition lightwhen you turn on ignition) conection .Can i connect a rev counter or do i have conect a wire inside. thanks

It will have the small connector but on later models it is a digital signal to tell the alternator how much to charge, in other words the alternator control is done by the Central Electronic Module in the car.

you cant connect a rev counter to an alternator no, it gets it's pulses from the Ignition system.

Years ago clan I changed the alternator on my diesel volvo 460, then had to remove it and take it back to the supplier as it did not have the rev counter connection. Got a genuine one from Kieth Price in Abergavenny at exorbitant price, fitted it, connected rev counter and lo and behold it worked. That was a 1995 car though. Dare say given the modern propensity to rely on ecm , bcm, etc there will be a module somewhere that controls the rev counter .
