Default Q regarding seat position on R Design 2020

Hi,

After 6 years of owning two different X5s I’ve had my lovely XC60 T8 for two weeks and the seat comfort is out of this world compared to the issues I had in the BMW (another story but even their comfort seats I was always uncomfortable with pains and never felt I was sitting straight or flat).

Now, I’m wondering about people’s preference for seat back pitch for an average 5ft 10 person. Sometimes I feel like I can feel the seat pushing on my shoulders but if I drop it back I’m not sure it gets any better and then it feels / looks like I’m sitting way too low. I’d assume the seat should support my whole back and shoulders. How much is too much upright? I’ve read that 110 degrees pitch is good but how do I measure it?

Regardless of these finer tweaks loving the car.

I'm 5'10 too. Tend to have the seat quite high and then the backrest angle doesn't matter too much, you still feel like you have a good view.

It’s a highly subjective matter “how much is too much upright” - so I’m not even gonna go there 🙂 Personally, I like alternating my seat settings on longer drives (500+ kms) so I have saved 2 settings under 2 presets - one more upright (I start the trip with this one = I do all shorter trips with it..) with a less protruding lumbar and flatter bottom - and the second one is more leaning backwards, with a stronger lumbar + thigh support fully extended and lifted. But that works for me- not necessarily for other people of my size/age 🙂 Btw. I’m about 6ft11.

Thanks for the info.

This car feels so much better than the X5 since I couldn’t seem to sit flat in that and always felt lopsided. I’m still making slight adjustments as sometimes my shoulder area feels a little ‘wrong’ but not sure if that is because I’m too upright or too tilted back! I love driving the car just haven’t got any long road trips coming up to test things out.

I even lifted the seat base up at the front quite a bit which felt quite good for a while.

For lumbar I really don’t use much (if at all).It just feels like something is poking in my back! Everyone tells me lumbar support is needed so maybe I should keep trying it out.
