Hi Matt,

As well as the areas that you have spotted, don't forget to think about other areas

compression
gearbox/clutch
exhaust
cat
turbo
cv joints
shocks
injectors
fuel pump
radiator
a/c system

on top of which as you say you will need service parts, but also possibly wheel bearings, control arm bushings, suspension bushings and anti roll bar links, tyres, brake calipers/disks/pads etc etc

and then there are such things as
radio
interior
sunroof
keys and locks
remotes
headlights
switches

HTH
Steve

Good luck with those repairs, I have seen people tackle a lot worse, on classic cars, but i'm afraid I haven't seen an 850 as bad as that one for rust under the sills or floor. Never mind the other endless tasks ahead! If it was me I would just find another one and use this car as the parts car.

Thanks for all the reply’s and advise.

Ive got the bumpers, crash bar etc off for a better look at the accident damage. Not as bad as I thought fortunately. The front cross member is no good and the passenger leg is a little distorted. I’ve offered up a replacement crash bar and am happy the chassis legs haven’t moved. Also all the panel gaps are as they should be so that’s all good.

Also have bought a good shell to use as a donor for body sections, although the front cross member is also twisted on that one too! Should be able to make up a replacement from it and a cross member I already have I think.

More to come........

Been really busy over the last few weeks so not had much time on the T5.

I have collected the donor shell though.

Going to get in the workshop this weekend and start removing the panels I will need.

Blimey, thats a project and a half!

Reminds me of a project I started many many years ago -

That one was too far gone for me, everything was seriously rusted and every part (not just every panel) needed refurbishing - I sold it on but it was successfully put back on the road, so yours is certainly doable!

Good luck!

Only just came across this thread, good grief it looks like a lot of work! I admire your spirit and it will certainly be interesting to read the progress and see how you solve all the issues you come across.
