Way under £100 for everything.

Your quoted price is just silly. 👍

A quick example.

I paid £208 inc £10 P&P for everything including the in-drum adjusters from Caffyns on ebay
This was all 100% genuine Volvo though.

Not actualy fitted yet as parking brake keeps passing MoT (at my pet indie...)

Cheers

Dave

Volvo here mark everything up 5 to 10 times as compared to UK prices. Especially galling as there's no 20% VAT.

Examples - a plastic fuel filler cap is £80. I paid £8 from FRF in Swansea. Brake pads £160 per set. Quote for a new headlight was £2,400. FRF charged £650 + £120 shipping. Even to replace the can in the back to fix a flat tyre they wanted £600!

Unfortunately rotors are too heavy and shipping is very expensive.

I would always go that way myself using Volvo stuff or at the very least Volvo shoes.👍

Motoring in HK is very expensive indeed. I lived there for 4 years, without a car. It was actually quite refreshing, but public transport is so good and taxis are very cheap and plentiful.

Interesting to hear! Insurance is pretty cheap so I guess you win some and lose some.

Availability of public transport and taxis dependent on where you live. Unfortunately none near me as I'm out in the New Territories.

I would concur with the advice to use Volvo shoes.
During the 6 years I ran an XC90, I needed to do the handbrake about 3 times.
The first time, I replaced the shoes with Mintex ones and, while they worked, they appeared to be made of a much harder material and did not have the bite of the original ones, so after a year or two I reverted to Volvo ones.
Brake Engineering discs from my local motor factors proved to be very good and cost about £65 for the pair; I got the genuine shoes and adjusters from Volvo Parts Direct for about £35.
One recurring problem I had was the expanders seizing up, causing the brakes to drag while reducing their performance: the only cure was to strip them down and use copper grease on the expander, which would last a couple of years.

Can you recommend a UK online site that sells original volvo parts?

Thanks

Try here. Very well respected. Use their discount code and hope that they will post to HK.

Postage could be costly. I would also order a full set of the springs for the shoes in case any get broken,👍

I've been using FRF for a while and always found them very good. Unfortunately COVID 19 seems to have hit them hard. Ive got an order from March that is still pending :-(.
