S80 2014 D4 Lux Fault Codes
Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help with the following.
I have a 2014 S80 D4 Lux with 39k miles on the clock. The Engine management light recently came on with message Engine system - Service urgent. The car is a few weeks overdue for a service but is not being driven much at the moment. I connected my Son's code reader and it found 2 codes P2DF0 ($07e8) Manufacturer control & P3410 $07e8 Cylinder 2. Does anyone know what these codes mean? |

OBD II Fault Code
If the engine's control module (PCM) determines that the Intake Valve for cylinder number two is not Turning on or off the way it is being commanded, the PCM will set code P3410. If you buy yourself a VIDA/DiCE diagnostic clone, you could turn off the warnings and see if they re-establish themselves. If they don't you could dismiss them but if they do you would need to haver the faults investigated. The DiCE connector with VIDA software costs about £50 and runs on Win 7 on a laptop but you can run it in a virtual Win7 system. No owner who is interested in the maintenance of his Volvo should be without one in this car electronic age.

Hi unexpectedly back again! So I took the car to a Volvo dealership to carry out a service and investigate the codes. They said cylinder 2 valve is a bit slower to open than the engine management system would like. To cut a long story short they cleared the code but it came back before I left the car park, so they cleared it again and said take the car for a good run and drive it harder than you would usually, I did that and code hasn't returned... until today. I thought a good motorway run might do the engine a favour so went for a 100 mile run, everything was fine until I restarted the car for the return trip, it immediately went into limp mode and the codes returned. Volvo had quoted £1500 labour to take the head off to investigate, the car has full Volvo service history and only 39k on the clock so you can imagine how unimpressed I am. My question is would it be worth adding a fuel additive to my next tank of diesel to see if that helps, if so any suggestion on which brand to go for. I'd also appreciate any other suggestions as £1500 labour plus parts isn't going to do the bank account any good. I have managed to clear the codes now and the car is running fine again, it seem to me it either starts with the fault and I have to turn it off and restart until it start without the fault. So far the code hasn't returned whilst the engine is actually running.

Hi, Did you find reason for these fault codes? I have faced to same faults, first time I got it 2020 july and now after almost 2 years I got it again. Not so often, but it would be nice to know the reason. I have 2016 S60 D4.
