Loving the LC. Nice to see it looking standard + expansions.
Check the central locking and keyless entry. The motors in the door mechanisms wear and fail. Easy to replace faulty motors (£15 eBay) but a couple of hour job and door apart. Signs are door not unlocking and not opening from outside. Check every door opens inside and out and that the keyless buttons on the handles all function.

Thanks guys,
Hoping to get to see it today, just waiting on seller confirming. It’ll be interesting checking a car over socially distant - hmm If I buy, I’ll budget on belts and tensioner along with gearbox fluid change alongside the normal servicing. Cheers |

One other thing, although not engine/gearbox related is the rear subframe bushings. They're a common issue on these, as they simply perish with age & also weight if you're lugging stuff around. I had mine replaced on my car at an Independent Volvo garage, but they used a press/special tool of some sort to remove the old ones & replace the new. Therefore, there's labour costs involved if a garage is doing it for you (Parts were cheap, labour was the expense). Listen out for any knocks/looseness on the rear end. Piccies please, if you do end up buying it.

Keeping my fingers crossed! The seller is being a pain in the backside to make an appointment to view it. Got to wait til Tuesday now - I know the next thing will be ‘sorry it’s gone’.
Good to know about other weak points, even if I miss this one, I’ve more-or-less decided on a P3 V70 as the next car, had P2’s for so long I fancy a change. |

Seller is full of excuses why I can’t view the car, I’m no longer chasing him for an appointment to view it - it’s making me look desperate!
If he replies to the message I sent a couple of days ago, I’ll consider giving it a look over, otherwise I’m sure another will pop up at some point. Out of 2 cars I’ve recently enquired about, one had no V5c and I suspect this one doesn’t actually exist for sale yet! If it’s still advertised in a few weeks, I may try again with a low offer. Thanks for all the pointers though, they’ll still be relevant when I manage to find a suitable replacement for my current car. |

That's a shame. The seller must not be keen on selling it! Oh well, another will pop up at some point.

Well, the strangest thing happened, the car popped up on Facebook market place with a different seller. Turns out the original person who listed it was an employee of the bloke selling it (trade),and to quote him ‘not the brightest’.
Anyway, the car will be mine in a few days once it’s got a new MOT. Deposit put down. The autobox is smooth, that was my main worry. It needs a few jobs, the door striker plate is misaligned, aux belt has a pulley that’s squeaking (it’s due aux belt on mileage anyway), bit of lacquer peel on nose cone, rear side window trim coming loose, minor stuff to be expected on a 10 year old car. I bought it with faults as I got the car for a good price and I like to know things have been done properly. I’ve never seen so many options on a P3 V70, just couldn’t resist all the toys (assuming they still work). Hoping to pick it up one evening in the week and work on a full service, belts/pulleys and the other issues before I sell my current P2 on. This is the eBay link to the car (it’s no longer visible on FB) if anyone wants to see what I’ve let myself in for! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184274949939 |

Looks a nice spec Reggit inc premium & R-design
Mine (bought last week) is a 2010 manual 205 SE Lux with 117k on the clock and can you believe it one private owner who sold it directly to me. I had to pay what I though was a rather high price for it though, but worth it for the condition & full Volvo history with receipts. So now I'm on the lookout for an R-design steering wheel & tailgate spoiler. John

A manual box on the one I’ve just (nearly) bought would have made my day. Just got to learn not to slam the brakes on when I want to change gear! |
