Lightbulb C30 1.6 Inter-cooler UPGRADE

Hello everyone!

Im from portugal and currently owning as my first car a volvo c30 1.6 R-design from 2012!

Im starting to feel the lack of HP...
Im going to add a second(right side) exhaust for looks and chip tune it to increase performance.

I was wondering if i should do an intercooler upgrade!
From what i found out, the stock intercooler should be: (658x157x40cm)
And maybe a bigger one would increase boost and overall performance.

I want to pay around 100/150 euros for a REALLY better one. Im expecting getting AT LEAST +10HP

I've checked really thick aftermarket ones for T5 with (570x170x76cm) that cost 700 euros, and im obviously not going to spend that money

So what types of intercooler that are compatible with my car would you suggest? anyone done it?!
I hear for focus RS might fit but are not that big...

HELP ME! THANK YOU VERY MUCH

MERRY CHRISTMAS BTW xD

Are you talking about a 1.6 petrol or diesel?

Sorry 100/150 € is not anywhere close to what you need to spend..

Question intercooler

i have a DIESEL c30
its has 115hp around that

i was think about putting other cars/models intercoolers that have bigger dimensions!

right now im trying to figure out the exact volume needed for my engine.
ig i chip tune it to 140hp, i will need 3liters of intercooler per 100bhp and a cross section of 50cm squared right?

i will try seing other intercoolers with these dimensions, what do you think??

thanks!

I'm not sure why you would bother with the intercooler. Especially with a budget of only 100-150 euros. Just get a remap and that's the best bang for your buck.

i will get the car remaped
and with 130hp ish the stock intercooler might fall short, don't you think?
and for 150€ i can get used intercoolers from other brands with bigger dimensions. might increase boost and hp right?

anyway, my car is 80k km. will the remap result in any significant wear to motor etc in this milage range? i plan selling it at 130k km and dont want engine problems till then

thank you for the help i really appreciate

Hi there, I own the same car and am struggling to find power adding modifications for it. Would you mind providing the links to the mods your using?
Cheers.

Hi!
My car has came a long way since i bought it.
Add my car group on Instagram: sxtuning for some photos!
In terms of power, because i already had the sport chassi from R-design, i only did chip tunning and straight pipe
But the double-mass fly wheel is giving me problems because of the increased torque and the intercooler pipes blew up twice hahah

If you are going to get the car mapped make sure you have fitted the uprated intercooler FIRST as contrary to a prior post (I think Direnza may have an available cooler).
Only a custom remap will do so you can take advantage of the denser air on tap, otherwise it'll be only good for reducing heatsoak on repeated pulls.
As the car's software will be calibrated to make X amount of power and torque, the boost and fuelling will not change so the ECU needs re-calibrating to accommodate the larger intercooler.

Save your money.

You won't notice any change after fitting it.

They just don't have the power to warrant a bigger intercooler.
