The above does work, the voc app only unlocks the tailgate, the rest the doors are unlocked when tailgate is opened (or boot) the spare key is activated and can be used to start the car.

I would not think a break in would re-activate the key. But I am only guessing on that bit. I did not fancy breaking a window to try it.

Might try this myself using the reduced guard bit and leaving the window open so I can get back in.

"A remote control key or Key Tag left in the car will be deactivated when the car is locked and the alarm is armed using another valid key. The 'Deadlock' function is also deactivated. The deactivated key is reactivated when the car is unlocked."

The key is deactivated- meaning it is no more recognized by the car- the idea behind it being exactly the case scenario if a car is broken into so the car cannot be started using the key left in the vehicle.

Not sure how it works with locking/unlocking via app..

I strongly recommend that you don't do this. When my XC60 was stolen last December my insurance company wanted a photo of all of my 3 keys. I can only imagine what might have happened if I only had 2 and/or had to own up to leaving one permanently in the car...................

Not on my V90, either keeping the lock button on the key depressed or keeping your finger on the keyless recess in any door handle closes both the roof and the blind.

Would it be possible for me to drive somewhere and park up with the spare key left in the car and my key in my pocket, and my son could then arrive at the car and call me to unlock the car so that he can then use the spare key to drive home?

I'm guessing that there would be limitations based on whether the car (or my phone) has a signal to carry out the operation, and of course, the fact that VOC may be down.
That works. Done that.

I imagine nothing would have happened. No insurance can deny your claim based on how many keys you have..

Here's one more: With gear lever in P, the car uses a roll sensor to figure out if your on an incline and pulls a hanbrake for you automatically- even with the autohold function turned off. I've never actually manually pulled the handbrake on my XC60

This is a great feature BUT with automatic gearboxes, it is recommended to pull the handbrake prior to engaging the P position on the lever. Like that you avoid the car breaking with the gear and then having hard time to disengage it.
