240 GLT estate - For sale
Hi Folks
sadly the day has come for the silver dream machine to move on. I am the third owner (actually registered in my wife's name), previous two owners both army officers. The car has been with me for two years and has now had to make way for a V70 (baby, ABS etc). As you'd expect for a car with 110K miles she's been totally reliable, pulls like a train and has never let me down. Mot until september and tax expires end of Jan 09. Had the front discs and pads and a wishbone replaced for the Mot. Other than the rear demister everything works just fine. Virtually no rust but a few scratches here and there. Full service history stamped up to 100K and I've had her serviced by my local independent garage. I had the cam belt changed at 100K and the alternator replaced last year Extas include - full length roof rack, boot liner, tow bar, dog guard (neither I or previous owner had a dog though). Any questions please feel free to ask. I'm located near Guildford and am looking for £700 ono cheers Will |

Its manual as Will posted about problems with clutch judder a while back. Is the clutch OK now Will?
Also did you resolve the problems with the seat and the electric windows etc?

Will get some internal pics uploaded soon. Yes it's a manual and the clutch judder last summer was a monitered by me and the garage as neither of us could find the cause. After a month it disappeared and is back to normal operation. Regarding the windows, the intermittant not working turned out to be a furred up fuse so cured with a bit of wire wool and the seat still leans a bit on the left.

Some more info on the following might generate interest (depending on he answers I guess!)
What condition are the headlight reflectors in - any discolouration? Is there any corrosion (including surface rust) to the rear arches? Is there any rust or deterioration to the sill at the bottom of the rear tailgate opening? How are the main sills? Any bubbling evident? Any bubbling starting around the windsreen surround particularly the bottom corners? Other than the drivers seat being twisted is there any wear to the leather - particulaly at the side nearest the door? How is the headlining - any sagging or tears? Condition of Virgo alloys - any kerbing or bubbling to the alloy? As things stand at the moment £700 is in the upper range for a 240 even a GLT - if an enthusiast comes to look at it they will at the very least be looking at the above. Hope that this is helpful

Thanks for the advice IH. Attached are more pics of everything except the wheels which I will clean and photograph if anyone requests (what with it being -6 at the moment). All the wheels are in good condition with very little kurbing or corrosion. As you can see one of the wheel arches is scratched but not down to the metal and both are pretty much rust free, just a little bit on the inner arch. The spot of rust on the tail gate is the only one I could find an it's about the size of a pea. There's no rust by/around the windscreen or wipers but there are two pea size touch up spots (by the previous owner). The sills are also pretty much rust free. If anyone wants more photos I've just cleared the camera out so you can see as much detail as you wish.

Thats better.
The body looks very clean and in good condition. Try posting pics of the tops of the sills with the doors open - espacially towards the front of the car. Also the rear hatch sill. I think that it will all help.

Even better!
Looks in excellent condition and the other plus point is that it has mechanical fuel injection with no ECU / lamda probe etc!

Were flying from heathrow so if it was still for sale was hoping to see tuesday (20th) late afternoon/evening (which ever suits you) when we return from our hols. As I said im looking for a tidy classic to go with my 145 so if I come to view I will buy.. Just so I dont waste your time tho my limit really was £600 ish Look forward from hearing from you.
