Smile Front lower wishbone replacement-advice please

Hi all, got a rattling knocking sound nearside when going over bumpy roads and suspect its the lower ball joint. Its not the drop links as they were replaced 6 weeks ago and are fine.
Replacing the lower wishbone complete with ball joint looks straight forward, the only thing concerning me is the ball joint nut which connects it to the hub, will it not just rotate with the ball joint when I try to loosen it ? Or am I just being silly.
Any help on this task appreciated.

I have just replaced mine and found that if I undo the nut as far as it will go then hit the knuckle with a hammer, (this 'shocks ' the fitting),where the ball joint goes through until the ball joint drops, the nut will have slackened enough to remove the nut by hand.
I had no problem replacing mine.
Other good guys on this site may be able to give you a better write up.

You can put a jack under the ball joint and just jack it up a bit to take some weight, this will stop it turning. I never had a problem with it turning coming off, but the new one turned going in, so the jack trick stopped it spinning. Relatively straight forward job, just a bit messy lying on the floor and that. Recomend using a ball joint splitter, mine was fused on pretty well.
