Default XC40 T5 Petrol Hybrid Gearbox Oil Change

Hi,
Has anyone changed the gearbox oil on the XC40 T5 Hybrid? The change interval is 60k Km or 40k miles.
  • Where is the location for adding the oil?
  • What is the procedure for getting the level correct.

Thanks in advance.
Pat

Is this an Aisin 8-gear auto? If so- you can find how-tos on the S/V/XC60/90 section - it’s the same gearbox.

Hi,
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it is a "7DCTH" gearbox and is quite different. I think that I have more or less found the answer and will post info on what I have found once I go through the process fully. I had previous experience of changing the oil in the Aisin 8-gear auto gearbox and the knowledge that I had gained from that was useful.

I have attached a document that has information that might be useful to anyone wanting to change the gearbox oil in the 7DCTH gearbox on an XC40 PHEV. If anyone can add detail around the fine Oil level setting and Counter reset please send it on and I will add to the document.

Regards
Pat

Great write up, I thought I had read somewhere these gearboxes also had a filter? Do you know if that is the case?

Also interested to know what was the condition of the fluid like?

There is definitely no filter on these gearboxes.

My gearbox had lost the oil due to a leak on the electric motor casing so can't say what the state of the oil was. The car had only 15k miles so what little oil there was left looked reasonably clean. I plan to change it again around 30k so will post an update if it looks to be a concern.
