Default Sat nav wrong location

Just bought a used XC90 yesterday sat nav was convinced it was in the atlantic ocean and gps was showing 0 signals....thinking this had gone the same way as my unit in an Espace years ago...as a last ditch effort I checked the wires on rear of sat nav disc unit under passenger seat. The new car had just had a very thorough valet at the dealer and im thinking the detached wire i found may have resulted from this..one connector on back of unit had no wire inserted. When i reinserted it it instantly found 7 gps signals and it worked perfectly again.
I know hardware / disc issues and professional repairs can be very expensive ...sometimes a little bit of obvious fault finding can save expense...with some luck too of course

Not related to the new system but a conversation overheard at my dealer." Well sir, do you want to spend £300 trying to fix the in car sat nav, or would you preffer to go to halfords and buy a garmin for £150."

When my 10 year old garmin decided it could no longer find satellites, I binned it and baught a new one. Not realy an option on a built in unit when it goes wrong, the worrying thing is that a Volvo dealer suggested not bothering with the biult in system, which begs the question why bother in the first place.

Paul.

Default Lost navigation location

We seem to have lost our location settings in the navigation. It says we are in another town. That is until my partner decided to do a factory reset now we are in Stockholm - how do I tell the car I’m in the uk to start with. I also need to set everything back up - a little knowledge can cause huge problems and told him he shouldn’t touch what he doesn’t understand.

Can anyone point me in the right direction - I’ve left him watching you tube for a fix but to no avail.
