Hi all new to the forum with a 2.5t issue
Hi all I’m new to the forum and new ish to volvos ive had my 2004 v70 2.5t about 8 months now I love the car but it’s rally down on power 1st & 2nd gear is fine pulls rally hard then change to 3rd and it pulls them the power dies within 2/3 seconds and the the power dies down . My spark plugs would appear I’m running lean or hot I personally think lean . But I get mixed feelings . Black exhaust tip and eggy smell after giving it some witch means it’s rich . I’m running 0.5 boost and holds it all the way up the Rev range in any gear .fuel rail holds 60psi at idle . Compression is good . But I have spotted that the exhaust vvt pulley is retarded and the inlet is advanced could it be that ? Or a lambda sensor

Absolutely no idea on the 2.5t engine, but have vida if you want to see what codes it's reporting.

Thanks for the reply lol I’ve not got Vida but got a good code reader witch displays live date and no codes stored tho . I’ve ordered a fuel to air ratio gauge to try and identify if I am running lean or not. I’m thinking more the vvt exhaust hub as it’s set to retarded and frowning the cam signals off . Ive not got a cam locking tool I might just rent one from my local motor factors to check and reset timing and vvt hubs .

Hi.
It`s worth checking the VVT Solenoid or Solenoids. It`ll only cost the gasket. On high mileage / lousy oil change history engines these can be gummed up and sticky. ( like the linear solenoids in the gearbox). With the solenoid remove you can put 12V across it and see inside if the pintle is moving on a full stroke. |
