My insurer told me to sling my hook if I got 'optimised' . . . so I did, got Polestar and found a different insurer with a more enlightened attitude, and for a slight increase over the original premium (£13). Should've known, as soon as I mentioned P* to my previous insurer they didn't have a clue what I was talking about. Oh well, their loss.

I paid £650 back in October 2017
I'm insured with Admiral and was told that there wouldn't be an increase.

interesting - when I was insured a few years back with Admiral they wouldn't countenance it at all. Now with Aviva and as the previous post says, no charge (and also no charge for amending policy).

NFU didn't charge me any extra.

But when I enquired about an APR stage 1 remap to my Golf GTi they said about 30% But then that tune takes it from 235 bhp to around 300 bhp. Not the miserly 10bhp of Polestar 😂

Excuse my ignorance. But what’s the benefit for 10bhp?

Does a lot more than just boost the engine output. All sorts of other parameters are changed including auto shift points, throttle response, changes the way the power is delivered and influences the AWD system if the vehicle is so equipped.
Really surprised me how much the driving characteristics of the car changed, really pleased with it.

It really should be offered as standard rather than a sub-standard piece of software as standard.

Volvo are deliberately making their product sub-optimal and then charging a hefty premium for restoring it to being optimal. It's a pretty shoddy practice.
