1994 Red 850 GLT

My well maintained Volvo 850 GLT Saloon, which has the 20valve 1984cc engine, has been returned by a family member and is once again offered for sale.

THE POSITIVES

The car’s automatic gearbox has the sport, winter and eco options, ABS, driver air bag, central locking, power steering, electric sunroof, electric door mirrors, power front windows, grey tints all round, heated rear screen and door mirrors, heated seats, & 5 head restraints, with rear arm rest/fold away child seat option. OE Radio/ cassette, but with rear JVC base shelf insert speakers. New aeroblade wipers + head lamp wash/wipe that works!
The upholstery is in excellent condition, with no stains or tears.
Recent new front discs and pads, new rear disc/drums, pads and shoes, as well as brake fluid renewal.
Recent cam, serpentine and power steering belt replacement, new radiator and electric fan, new PCV system and air intake tube, recent new spark plugs, air and oil filters. The engine has only ever had synthetic oil used from first registration and in the last 10 years both oil and filter have been changed at no more than 6,000 mile intervals. Oil usage averages around 1000 miles per 500ml, there is no blue smoke, although there is a very small oil leak from the near side which has remained constant for all of the last 70,000 miles that I have owned this metallic Regent Red 850.
Nearly new 195/60 15 V rated tyres all round (Bridgestone front - Uniroyal Rain2 Rear on Volvo OEM 6 spoke mag alloys + unused spare + an extra spare good tread depth Michelin). There is no rust anywhere on the car.
A very reliable car that drives well and is in superb mechanical condition, always starts first time every time, estimated mileage is around 147K.
The car has NOT been valetted, is generally clean, all photos are “as is”.

THE NEGATIVES

Please note, whilst the speedometer reads accurately over the range, the odometer constantly reads the 144136 miles shown in the photograph. The mileage trip is not working as during the first couple of hundred yards of a test drive on 23 July 2011 the driver testing the car pressed the trip button whilst moving at around 40mph....................end of mileage recording and trip!!!
The paintwork does suffer from bonnet spots where the lacquer has lifted and there are the minor dents and scratches that you would expect a car of this age to collect in car parks. There is a crack in the clear plastic fascia of the instrument cluster, and the illumination of the fuel gauge is a little dim. Hence the crack, caused by an over enthusiastic tap to get it fully bright again. The glove box catch has bitten the dust, but a functional modification lets the glove box lid stay in place and remain useable! There are several small chips to the front screen, resin filled by Autoglass, none is an MOT problem.
