Default VOLVO 460 2.0 Auto

Hi.

I have a Volvo 460 2.0 automatic, Currently not being able to start it has been sitting in storage for the past 3 years, ive been doing it up wanting to put it through MOT, But the Problem is not being able to start,at the start of maintenance it started by jump-starting it from my pickup, and start fine runs good. then last week i drove it onto my garage lift and now wont start tried jump starting it and even replaced it with a new battery but now whilst trying to start it it turns over a little and dies some times the starter does a click noise only from the solenoid ive tried tapping the starter and trying again but nothing , cleaned the earth strap,

ive seen where the starter is and its location is difficult to get access to

any one else changed a starter on volvo 460?

I do not know whether the automatic gearbox causes a particularly different layout, but - assuming not - the starter motors on the 400s are fairly easy to do - it's a case of working rom above and underneath and removing a couple of the heat-shields.

There is at least one relatively recent thread on here relating to the 480 starter motor if you search...eg:

well ive seen underneath it as the car is on the lift with me i would need to remove the full manifold heat sheilds ive seen some volvo with the starter at the front. which is easy to get access but this model well the starter is like hidden behind cant access it from above. so i think i willl have to remove the lot underneath which is a pain. and once i remove the starter i should test it out on the floor. then buy another starter on ebay. if it is the starter broken.
