squeaking noise on cold start?
Hi Guys
Got a bit of a weird mettalicy squeaking noise coming from the belts after a cold start. Goes away once the engine warms up. Any ideas? https://youtu.be/eCCAADTpd_0 Thanks Asim |

The most obvious starting point is the alternator clutch pulley.
Easy enough to test and replace.

Try pouring a little water over the belt while it is squeaking; if the noise goes quiet for a few seconds, it is the belt slipping slightly. It is under the greatest load after starting a cold engine as the alternator is drawing a lot of power to recharge the battery.
Check that the belt is clean, without any oil or grease on it: failing that it might need a new belt and tensioner.

I've been having the same for over 0.5year. It's definitely either auxiliary belt or one of its pulleys.

Don't leave it for too long. If the aux belt breaks, it will almost certainly go into the timing belt and wreck your engine.
