Anyone ever put an injection engine in an Amazon?

I have seen a few amazon cars that folks have stuffed, FI engines into the amazons.

But just take the engine out, rebuild it, drive plugs into the injection holes, put a fuel pump on the side and run it on a nice set of SU's. Easier to keep running than d-jet....

Interesting! You've reminded me that I had a B20E engine in my Amazon Estate and the injection holes were plugged. I was just wondering what the injection system was like. But Chris, you say replace the set up with SU's, right?

Default B20E engine in Amazon

Just for info. I run a B20E engine in my 122S but it breathes through a Weber 28/32 DGV carb.. I get 32+mpg driven hard and the dyno reading is 115bhp..
Don't know for certain but have been told that the original Bosch injection system is very basic and not good for fuel economy.
Perhaps someone out there could enlighten me with some mpg figures for the Bosch?

Regards, David.

Get 27MPG from the ones I have had and I don't hang about.
I have not found the FI to be unreliable once you respect that it will not run on rusty fuel.

Complete system including wiring harness and fuel tank from a 145E. Air filter inside front panel a la 1800E. Did it ages ago. Car still works.

It is my understanding the mechanical FI system is very reliable, it is the later electronic ones which had problems. I was planning on doing a programmable system in my Amazon but events intervened (I wondered what to do about the petrol tank; nice idea Mark). That would be the way to go, especially with any mods on the engine.

I gather Mitch has a "Mega-Squirt". Got any numbers Mitch?
