Default Left hand drive V70

Will need within next 6 mths a left hand drive estate. I would like a V70 or at a pinch I'll go for a 940.

Hi
Im looking to buy privately as any dealers over here seem to put a disproportionate add on into the price. I notice your in France. I am going to be moving to the L'Herault region within 6 mths and if needed will buy when I am over there. if you happen to spot a good V70 up for grabs please send me a message.

Hi, yes I live in France, have done since 04. But I have three right hand drive Volvo's all of which are re-registered onto French plates & log book etc.

2'nd hand cars here are very expensive.

In 09' I bought an 850 in Derby for 850 quid, a 96' model. Same model here then was circa 2500 euros.

In Nov' I bought a 2004 V70SE Auto for 1500 quid, same here 7-9000 euros.

Yes a private sale here may save some on those, but even then you'd be lucky to get say, an 850 for less than a grand and with less than 300kms too.

Some sites to search on for you:
http://www.leboncoin.fr/
Thats a general for sale of all sorts site. Very popular and some nice cars do pop up.

http://www.vfl-fr.com/forum/

http://forum.univers-volvo.com/

Those two are Volvo forums with 'for sale' pages.

I prefer univers myself, but use both regularly.

Hope this is of use & if can help further don't hesitate to ask.
Good luck

Hi

Yes aware of the differences in car prices between UK and europe. We have friends in Denmark and she has a V70 and was amazed when I told her how much I paid for mine. I have never really understood why there is such a massive difference.
Am aware of the leboncoin site but not the other two so will give them a look.
Recently when driving down near Nimes I saw a sign that looked very familiar, in fact was identical except the words was for BCA auctions. It would seem Nimes is a big centre for their auctions down there. I am trying to ascertain if they operate the same in France as the do over here.

Thanks for the info.

The general costs of being a business owner, as in social contributions are high. Then employees add major costs on top of that.
Also, a lot of French will keep a car a lot longer, you still see R4 & R5's in daily service 205's too. So turn over is slow.

Probably not the whole story, but apparently that is a big part of it.

Afraid I can't help on the auction, no idea there sorry.

Yes plus there are nowhere near as many company cars as there are in the UK.
I will follow up the auction site as it may be a possibility.
