Default Fitting a 740 turbo grill

Hi all

Looking at jetronic63s's gallery I see that he has fitted a 740 turbo grill to his '89 240 GLT

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/vbpicg...?do=view&g=134

Will this fit straight on without any modification to the mountings etc does anyone know?

I wouldn't mind trying one provided that it isnt a major operation!

Ian

Steve (Jetronic) has very kindly replied to a PM concerning the fitting of 740 grills to 240's - here is an extract - it will no doubt be useful to those planning this kind of mod:

"Yep I had to make up brackets top and bottom. The bottom ones I made from some plastic and sprayed black and screwed onto the bottom. The top ones are just a combination of wing nut and spring. A bit crude but you don't see it when the bonnets closed.......

........it's worth noting the grill is more or less the same height as the 240 one but a touch narrower so you get a slightly larger gap between the headlamps and the grill - but it still looks great I think."

Once again, thanks for the description Steve.

Ian

Alternatively, if you've got a dark coloured 240, why not remove the diagonal bar from the standard grille - saw a charcoal grey "H"-plate 240GLT in Leominster on Thursday and it looks quite menacing. Guess what i'm going to do to Sweden's finest sporting saloon just as soon as I can get another grille?
