Excellent guide Biotoxic. Need to make one more myself now.....

I did the same servicing on my car a few months ago and it was exactly the same sequence as you. Only difference on my service was that I had to pump the fuel about 6-7 times until it felt hard.

Oh and I hammered a screwdriver in the oil filter to unscrew it....

Manual fuel pump is located on the left hand side of the fuel filter housing, you can use just 2 or 3 fingers to squeeze it. Its a black rubber balloon type thingy.

I used a hot water from the tap to clean it, I would use petrol or Gunk next time.

that 5.6 litre capacity is the maximum, you need to fill it only half way between Min and Max mark on the dip stick, for me it was ~3.7 litres, If you fill up to the max, engine will use more engine oil like it should (for some reason) so there is no point filling to the Max mark. Regarding air filter: If it is clean then just leave it in.

Nice guide mate, thanks for taking the time. especially regarding the fuel filter. ive never changed mine on my 52 plate v40 96k miles. Ive had it about 3 years so would think it maybe like the one in your picture. Ive changed the oil every 6-8 months.think ill purchase a new fuel filter this weekend now i have the confidence to do it. just haven't seen the manual fuel pump you mentioned so will have to try find that first.

Ha ha ha indeed i thought that, just looked at my engine, ive found the manual pump. so next weekend that job will be done. just one thing do i really need to drain the fuel out first or can i just undo the top cap and remove the filter. replace the cap and pump in fuel via the manual pump ive just located? For the first time I would recommend that you remove the whole housing unit and clean it properly. If it is near 100'000 then it is a must. Once you remove the unit and the fuel filter you will see the "hairs" at the bottom. Remove them and clean the inside. LET IT DRY COMPLETELY, then put it back where it was and whola, you just changed the fuel filter and possibly saved injectors as well.

Default Replace Fuel Filter Housing Unit

Hi,

Is there any chance you could upload the video you took when you removed your fuel filter housing unit, as I think I need to replace mine due to air in the fuel system, and would like to try it myself if its not too big a job.

Thanks very much

Default How Much Oil

Hi All

I've just got a 2002 s40 1.9D Sport and just went to change the oil.

Unfortunately the bottom of the dip stick is broken off so I cannot measure how much oil to put in, I also don't have an owners manual.

Can anyone confirm how much oil should be put in? I've put 5L in at the moment.

Thanks

5.6 litres to fill. 5 litres in will be ok.
