Have a look under the bonnet, that should give you the answer!

I belive they can be made to fit but not easy. Better to spend a bit more on a new cartridge and know it's going to be guaranteed and not likely to fail 2 months down the road. Have you been letting the engine idle after a run for a couple of minutes before switching off?

yup. if it is an early T5 16g turbo with the conical flange it is more or less a straight fit, will need clocking for rwd fitment.......a nice upgrade and woth a go for 30 squids!!

If it is the conical flange then all you need to do is reclock the housings.

The flat flange can be used but you will also need the flat to conical adapter

That much oil could be the common bad workmanship on the oil seal at the bottom of the oil return. Like if they tried to leave the pipe on the turbo and/or leave the seal in hole they will definately damage the seal on reassembly.

Generally this is likely to be a workmanship issue so just go straight back to the mechanic.
