Default 940 coil sping top hat / mount washer

hi all
i have changed my rear suspension from nivomat to standard set up , with the help of volvo 900 enthusiasts ,.luke . and mark grinston, thanks to you both, and other inputs not a easy job for a 69 year old carpenter ,
so on removal of the old springs the upper fitting were in a poor condition i have fitted new studs and nuts and just ordered new rubber bushes that fit into the spring which i will change again in due course , the large TOP HAT metal insert washer is NO LONGER AVAIABLE ,, has anyone found something that will do this job as these washers take a lot of the weather .ive cleaned mine up but its got some rust damage a lot of our 700/900 cars will be suffering from this problem so we need to address this issue as it will only get worse ,
i think a lot of issues with these cars can be fixed with not to much time and cost
so if we can get our heads together im sure you will come up with a solution
regards jim liddy

Not an engineer, but had a quick look into this earlier and it’s very hard to find any reference to the part the OP cannot source. It seems to be a metal cap that goes under the rubber top mount on the rear springs but it’s not shown on many diagrams and a part number was totally elusive.

I’m assuming it’s the circled part from the second photo below. That is a still from this video.

If it is definitely NLA, and Volvo can still source a lot of classic parts from Sweden, then it may be possible to find something similar or generic. I think the pictured part may be close. It is from the front suspension from an ‘80s VW.

Failing that, someone might be able to fabricate them if there’s enough demand.

Otherwise, try to source secondhand ones from a region that doesn’t use salt on the roads.

It's part number 1329879 see diagram ( 17 )

It's no longer available from GCP in Sweden as I tried to get them when I did my rear springs and shocks last year

Not sure if any other models used them, but I doubt it as it's a pretty basic set up, which will allegedly have been made better in more modern Volvo's ( NOT !! )

Sadly I only pulled two pairs from my breakers the rest of the time I left the rear springs on the shells... Big regret now!
