Default Selling my Volvo?

Hi All,

I’m reluctantly pondering selling my 2018 Xc60 T5 for financial reasons. I’m presuming the best way is private sale but can anyone advise on the best sites or methods to do so.

Always found this group to be super useful.

Many Thanks

Glenn

I would personally have thought it would be worth contacting a couple of Volvo dealers to get a ballpark 'trade plus a bit more' offer for you car.

You can then decide whether you hawk it around the 'we-buy' sites or just go straight to advertising privately. If you do that, I've found AutoTrader by far and away best for selling.

Trying WBAC won’t hurt. I was very surprised at my offer , more than I paid at a dealer 14 months earlier!👍

Try several Volvo dealers.
I was listening to radio 2 a while ago and the topic was about the price of used cars going up because of the microchip shortage.

One chap phoned in and said he phoned a Volvo dealer and was offered 2 grand more than he had paid for his car (an S80 I think) from the dealer 18 months before hand.
He sourced another Volvo to replace it from another dealer about 100 miles away.
When driving the car back home he realises that he didn’t like it as much as his old one, and phoned the dealer he sold his old one to and was offered a further £1500 on top of what he had just paid for the car, so drove it straight there and sold it to them as well.

Give motorway.co.uk a try as well. I've heard people getting good prices there.

We Buy Any Car, Cazoo, Motorway etc. but be ready for their chip at the final price tactics, stick to your guns.

If you do sell it privates, e-bay is safest as you can see the feedback and trace people who contact you.

Facebook market place is free and popular, but exposes you to every moron in the country... you will be surprised what is being bought and sold on their now.

Agreed^^^^^^^ I have bought and sold cars on ebay and never had a problem. A colleague of mine thought she was smart and traded her Citroen for a BMW from a franchised dealer. She was c*ck-a-hoop that she was offered £1k more by WBAC.com than the dealer offered her. When she delivered it to WBAC they walked round, shook their head and chipped the price by £2.5k. We did warn her, but she would not listen.

I've heard some very positive and very negative things about WBAC.

They should be transparent, for example they have rate cards for refurb work such as wheel and panel painting - but sometimes they seem to make it up. A lady at work went to sell her 3 year old Merc Coupe to them which was low mileage and immaculate but they chipped her £1050 on one alloy having the tiniest of marks and she fitted 4 budget tyres ("Sunny" I think). Whilst I don't disagree on the latter, they could have made it clearer or a specific question in their online valuation.
