LPG Conversion in Bradford/Leeds .
Hi, just literally bought a 2005 xc90 t6 was thinking about getting it converted to gas. However a few people say that I should not do it as it is bad for the engine, I have a read alot on the internet that suggests that is not bad for the engine if it done correctly, is that correct.
I understand the concept that you have to do a certain amount of miles for it to be worth while, I would say that I would do no more than 8000 per annum, according to the read out in my car I have been doing around 17mpg over the weekend and petrol is 132p per litre where I live. If anybody feels that with the above information it would be worth my while to convert, could anyone suggest a decent installer in the leeds/bradford area, as I have read of some bad experiences with suspect installations. Regards, |

There are a number of issues with the T6 engine for conversion. Valves and valve seats do give problems and an electronic valve saver system will need to be fitted. It is also possible to solve the problem via some cylinder head work.
You are also likely going to need a calibrated fuel return line fitting. If you are going to get this done localy then make sure the installer has done them before and will be using very high quality injectors. Cheap injectors will not do. They would have to be Magic Jet, Kelein or Matrix to have a chance of working. The electronics also want to be true real time sequential. To do right they are a specialist conversion. 8000 miles a year is not great but at 17mpg there is a chance of a good return but you will need to aiming to keep the car for a couple of years for it to pay off. |

An excellent Yorkshire-based conversion company is Autogas 2000 at Thirsk, and if you have a look back through a few old posts on here you'll quickly see that Dai Brace (Classicswede) is very highly regarded.
Dai's prices are posted up on here quite recently. Good luck Jack |
