lol. That's the first thing I did after mine packed up. Inspected all the joints with a magnifying glass, but could not find any bad joints. I guess a specialist might be able to spot more than I could

Hopefully it's fixable. Will report back on the findings.

Isn't there a way of reflowing all the joints by puting the whole thing in the oven at a certain temperature for a certain amount of time?

Some youtube videos recommend 200° C for 8 minutes. Might be worth a try if all else fails.

This is a very valid method - I use it to fix dodgy graphics chips on laptop motherboards all the time. Just disconnect as much as possible from the board, rest it on 4 tin foil balls at the corners of the board on a baking tray and put in preheated oven, 200C for 8-10 minutes. Turn off the oven, open the door a little bit and leave it to cool down before touching the board. You do get fumes so make sure you have ventilation. If it doesn't work first time, try it for slightly longer (2 mins or so).

Well, my device arrived today. It connected with my car straight away, shows all 4 LEDs working (although they are poorly aligned with the casing) and I have been able to read and successfully clear some SRS error codes.
There are other codes that I will be requesting help with in the future but...... £59 well spent I think. |

Yes, I think so.
It has given me 5 ECM Errors in fact. See the attached snip. I haven't looked into clearing those yet as they don't have any symptoms! |

I need to learn more about the differences in the Initial State, Selected SCS, Unselected SCS and Delivery tabs.
