Default Bosch K-Jetronic?

Hello all Volvo anoraks !!!
I'm Paul from Manchester, and I am an old skool Ford anorak really. So you will be wondering why I am on here.
Well it goes like this,as I was doing an engine search for boost ignition retarding and was diverted away from my search by reading that the Bosch K-jetronic system had a closed loop system,as we know, meaning lambda equipped.
Well, the Sierra XR4i also had the Bosch K-jetronic,but I am impressed that the system can be closed. As I do like my cars,I also do appreciate the issue of reducing carbon emissions. So,as the XR4i has not been offered with a closed loop,I have now intention to convert it to a closed loop system, via using the Volvo Bosch K-jetronic ECU and loom, because the XR4i only has an ignition module.
So my question is where is the ECU on the Volvos that have Bosch K-jetronic?

I have done some searching and I think the B23E B230E and the B28E engines were the only ones that had Bosch K-jetronic

Oh,and I did email Bob prior to me joining,as I was reluctant to register,so thanks for the invite Bob.

regards
Paul

Uk spec K-Jet cars do not have a lambda sensor and are found on almost all non turbo 4cyl Volvos from the mid 1970's to the late 1980's.

K-Jet controlled engines in the Uk are the B21E, B23E, B200E, B230E and the B28E.

The Volvo also has no ECU for the fuel injection - it's all done via the airflow plate/ fuel distributor as K-Jet is purely a mechanical injection system.

Nice motor especially if it has the Cologne built V6.

My brother used to have a XR4x4 years ago which went like stink.

There were Bosch Jetronic KE systems which used an E.C.U. I've seen them on Ford escort RS turbos among others, I don't know if they were ever used on Volvos . However the point is that an E.C.U. would be needed on a system with a lambda sensor.

Thanks very much V6 Man,interesting to read that the Volvo K-jet didn't have an ECU.

Thanks. I do intend to convert it to a 4x4 eventually, but I would have to cut out a portion of the tunnel to put in 4x4 gearbox mountings.

The mark 1 XR4x4 Sierra also did have this KE-jet system but mainly in Europe.Only a few were in England.
