'Ford M' appears by the bar code, which would tend to support this. There's a code - 313 749 - also 635592850. The cost, including 2 Feb tops strut mounts, was £224.
I bought Sachs from my local car factors . I did the job about five years ago and they cost me £70 ish each ,possibly gone up a bit now Cant remember what the top mount cost . All old parts had FoMoCo stamped on them .
If your fitting them yourself then Get some plusgas as the bottom pinch bolt really gets rusty as does the fit of the strut into the hub assembly. Some heat helps free this up , either a good blowlamp or oxy gear .

Good luck , its well worth it as the car will drive like new again.
PS. check springs thoroughly for any signs of cracks especially around the bottom if rust has got under the coating/paint .

Thank you, you're absolutely right - I've got the wrong part. I've just ordered part 801050 from buycarparts as it allows you to check against the OEM part number (which is 31277826 - and 31340605 for the spring seat (the plate), if you want that as well.

Buycarparts seems like a decent website - Glad I could be of assistance

You wouldn't happen to know what the part numbers are for the helper springs & spacers? There's three types of helper springs according to a Vida image I've been looking at (All have different part numbers). There's also two types of spacer rubbers that sit at the base of the strut (Both have different part numbers also).

Mine's a 2008 V70 - for this the spacer below the bearing we've been looking at is 31317210, the helper spring is 31340308 and the spacer below that is 31317211.

Thank you. I've managed to locate the correct parts with those numbers Have you replaced the shocks etc on yours yet?

Its a pity you can't get pre-assembled shocks or "Quick struts" as they're known for the P3 shape V70 like you can for the older shape S60's (Pre 2006) as an example. It'd save faffing around with part numbers & scrolling through multiple websites to find out who has which part in stock etc. You could just buy the strut that's already fully assembled with new parts & fit it straight to the car. That would be easy I suppose, but I don't know why you can get them for the older models & not for the newer ones :/

Yes, I had the Sachs fitted today (an excellent non specialist I use between main dealer services). You were right, of course, about the incorrect rubber bearings, but they found all the ancillaries in good shape (it's only done 73k), so just fitted the dampers. Haven't had a chance to try it for any distance yet, but it used to thump over dropped kerbs and now it's like driving over a pillow.
