Unhappy Battery change problems can any body HELP!!!!!

Hi there,

Hope you can help me, I have recently bought a 2001 v40 sport lux with a 1.8 GDI engine, which I've really been enjoying driving but the starting was a bit sluggish and with the cold weather coming I had visions of getting stuck so thought it best to change the battery, having done that the car starts but won't hold the revs and cuts out, a mechanic friend said to try leaving the ignition on for 20 mins or rev hard about 3000/3500 rpm for about 20secs to reset ecu having tried both of these I am still having same problem.

Other than this the car has been great so if anyone can help i'd really appreciate it

Thanks in advance

Jack

Have you had a good look around the battery area to make sure no cables or hoses have been dislodged?
