Default V60 D3 brake upgrade XC90 calipers 336mm

After learning my V60 only has 300mm discs, when my V50 had 320mm, I feel the need to upgrade.

I was thinking 316mm from the facelift but thought I may as well go to 336mm.

There is loads of cheap second hand calipers on ebay etc.

Found a set of XC90 336mm calipers locally, that many people have used to upgrade p2 cars.

Wondered if anyone has done this and whether they will fit??

Are you planning some serious power upgrades or do you feel the brakes don't work ?

I run a 2011 S60 D3 with remap, standard brakes and haven't run into the back of anything yet. Curious why you feel the need to upgrade ?

I just like really good brakes........

Its seems to be theme of mine whatever car I have. Must fit better brakes.

Did it on a Corrado VR6 (312mm upgrade).

Did it on my Bora TDI remapped (312mm again plus vented rears)

Did it my 850R (305mm upgrade)

I do intend on upgrading to power in the future also.... 136bhp is not floating my boat....

try lifting 4 brake discs and calipers from an xc90 you wont be able to! it will slow you down without even touching the brake pedal :-)

any brakes are only as good as the grip your tires provide. standard brakes are good enough to make your abs panic. try it

indeed , standard brake are as good as anything unless you plan on braking hard from well over 100 mph all the time . Test your own brakes , if the abs comes into action the Brakes are entirely adequate nothing would make them "better" what ever that is :-)

Appreciate your points of view. I did it anyway.

Managed to get "Mintex" discs off ebay for a smidge over 40 quid for two. Bought in singles from different sellers. One only being £18 (including postage).

Pads 20 quid courtesy of PFS ebay.

Decent calipers from my local volvo specialist £70.

Hell yeah,

They come on stronger.
More controllable.
Look much better.
Cheap.
And didn't ruin the ride which was about my only real worry.

Bolt on job. Make sure you get the V70 336mm discs.

The only thing I did to make them bang on was some thin washers between carrier and hub to get thr disc to sit perfectly central.

You have to bin the back plates for the disc or cut the lip of them. I just took them off. They were rusty anyway.
