Thanks!

I was using the same logic too. Most if not all engines number cylinders from front to back so would seem logical that everything else does too. I'm happy to go with that. £120 plus VAT though does seem very pricey; the last one I bought was £40

Have you tried a Bosch parts specialist instead?

The confusion comes from the Autel refering to it as BANK 1 or 2 and Volvo refering to it as Left or Right

No , volvo refer to Bank 1 and bank 2 in their fault codes and literature , it goes right back to 1990 when the 960 came out . bank 2 is indeed cyls 4 , 5 and 6 ...
5 cylinder engines are always bank 1

Handycm,
Did you ever get one and complete the replacement?
if so, can you let me know where you source part in the end, how much and if it came with correct lead/connector on it.
Also, did you use special tool to replace the sensor or is it easy without the tool.
Can you also let me know if the autel reader can reset this error code once fixed and if it will remove engine light symbol on dash.

You will be able to buy the socket from a motor factors (they have a slot down the side to let the cable hang out). The Autel will reset your codes. You should be able to buy them direct from OEM manufacturer (usually Bosch in the case of Volvo) through a Bosch parts dealer.
