Default drunk xc90 driver

Standing outside the local last night at 1 am in tarvit st , tollcross edinburgh, having a fag, when a black xc90 tried to do a 3 point turn in the street , he reversed into the tenament wall opposite, crunch, drove a few yards, stopped and literly fell out the car when he opened the door,
Got his jacket on and locked the car, staggered around totally steaming drunk ,and then tripped on the kerb and fell backwards smashing his stupid head on the pavement.
I thought his skull fracture was punishment enough for one night so refrained from grassing him up, What an idiot.
But mr 06 plate xc90 with the towbar and rear bumper damage.
I video'd you staggering around and smashing your head.
And you will never know if the police have your car number as a "vehicle of interest" so your drunk driving days are numbered.

And if he does it again and kills someone how will you feel?

And worse still, if your evidence came to light could you be considered culpable and possibly charged with perverting the course of justice.

I think we all know what you have to do.

Report him. If he killed someone I knew due driving whilst drunk in the future I am not sure if I would be able to forgive the fact you could have prevented it happening.

You should have phoned and reported him there and then ....
There's no legal obligation ( that I know of ) for you to do so,
but there's certianly a moral one - as a law abiding and resepctable member of society !

How do you know he wasn't going to return to the car and ( try to ) drive again later ?

You gfive the impression that it's somehow wrong to report ("grass"(
on someone so irresponsible and dangerous.

I'm sorry, but I think you really need to re-visit your own attitude here,
and instead of worrying about how it might look on you for "grassing" on someone like that,
consider that reporting him at the time could quite concievably save someone's life -
maybe theirs, or maybe a completely innocent person / child / friend / relative, that he should happen to "bump into".

Let's just hope that he didn't, and that he actually reads this,
realises how close he came, then never does it again !

Meanwhile, although it's now too late to do anything about the drunk driving aspect,
I dare say that there is damage to wall he collided with,
and he could still be reported for Failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

I reckon the owner of the wall would appreciate that if they have to shell out to repair it !

'Perverting the course of justice' - nonsense. But of course he should be reported at the time of observation, although as the drunken fool was arriving home, my understanding is that Police have no power of entry to demand breath test unless injury accident has occurred.

I say name and shame, simply no excuse for drink driving.
