I blutacked the gauge into different positions to test where would be the best position. I had it in that position from 9am Tuesday morning until Wednesday lunch time when the wife used the car and I never noticed any dazzling/ reflections etc. that caused any problems. Can't be 100% sure but I'm happy. I don't think it will be a problem, the gauges LEDs are not overly bright either. I'll post a couple of video's(night & day) once its installed so you can all judge for yourselves.

Still not found a second hand mesh thing yet so I still haven't installed the boost gauge. However I had to make a short trip(about 30 mile) to a friends house to drop of some tools this morning so I hooked up my fathers old set of pressure gauges just to accurately measure the max boost.

4th gear doing 40mph I put my foot to the floor boards, boost hit 1.4 bar then quickly dropped back to 1.3 bar. These gauges are very accurate and rated up to 10 bar so I know the reading is an accurate one.

1.4 bar is about 20psi which is a little less than I expected.
1.5 maybe 1.6 is what I'm hoping for once its remapped.

Is 1.2 bar about right for a standard car(no remap) ?

After an hour searching eBay and a few phone calls I've finally found some to buy the mesh surround from so I've installed the gauge, still need to wire it up but the install looks quite good(or at least I think it does).

The drop in power you see is because the run was aborted before max RPM. Can't say I know why exactly that is, probably because the main focus was trying to control the boost low down, which we managed to do a little bit but there was a problem with the turbo which I think was replaced shortly afterwards (outnumbered can probably confirm).

So you can produce a power curve the same as Dons, plenty of power higher in the rev range?

Absolutely yes. I can wholeheartedly say that our maps don't suddenly stop making power at 4100rpm

The turbo was changed.and yes the powerband is all through the rev range and does not fizzle out

Well its a beautiful Friday afternoon, the sun is blazing and I have nothing to do.

Time to get the wiring sorted on this boost gauge.

Mike(outnumbered), I pulled up at a set of traffic lights earlier this week and did get a very anoying reflection from the face of the gauge. The Sun hit the face of it, wasn't as bad as the blinding dazzle I sometimes get from other cars windows but it was very anoying for the 4 or 5 seconds I was at the traffic lights.

Would I move it to prevent it happening again?

No, looks great where it is and I get dazzled far more often by the Sun reflecting of other cars and idiots with illegal HID upgrades.

Finally got it wired up. Was a bit late when I took this pic, was dark when everyone had gone, friends and family turned up and insisted I had a Bar B Q, beer, bouncey castle etc.

Just drove around in a circle and positioned the car to make the reflections as bad as I could and this is the result.
