Default City safe experience

Was out in my car today in the rain . Went to homebase and went to pull in a car park space with a bush at the end. Next thING I know I'm 4 feet away from bush all wheels locked up with a sign saying city safe mode activated and people looking as if I've just ran over someone. Wtf i's all that about.

Best that you read the manual to find out the conditions under which City Safe operates. It has operated correctly.

It's quite a shock isn't it? It certainly made me jump the first time it happened to me. Similar situation, coasting into a parking space. I'm not quite sure how far away I was but I'm pleased it is there, just in case.

you were not aware of City Safety? the salesman should explain it to you . It leaves auto braking until the last moment to avoid a collision . It will save a collision out on the road one day ..

Yeah I know about it but I was almost coming to a stop naturally so wasn't expecting it. If I applied brakes a tiny bit it wouldn't happen would it. I must remember next time

Yes it was waiting for you to apply brakes , it knew a collision was imminent and couldn't wait any longer , if you had braked millisecomds earlier it would not have activated . I've been driving them for the last 5 years daily since this was introduced and i have never had one activate .. Maybe you were in a hurry !

I've had it activate on three occasions going into parking spaces.

Highly irritating - almost turned it off after the last time but sods law would mean that as soon as I did I would actually need it.

My system is far too sensitive!!

It's not too sensitive at all . you will have to change your "fast-in" style a bit .. It is very rare there is ever a complaint about this . Have you had your software updates ? Volvo are constantly fine tuning these systems from practical experience gained on the roads .
